About Saltwater Bookstore
Tucked into the historic streets of the seaside town of Marblehead, Saltwater Bookstore is a quiet place for discovery, conversation, and the simple pleasure of finding the right book at the right moment. Readers from near and far stop in to browse the shelves and leave with the stories that stay with them long after the last page.
Saltwater’s storefront at 134 Washington Street was built in 1790 and is full of classic New England charm. Thoughtfully designed with a cozy, coastal vibe, we invite you to spend time browsing our curated collections of adult and children’s books.
Like many people in town, I first fell in love with Saltwater as a reader —the kind of place where you wander the shelves, discover something unexpected, and leave with a book you can’t wait to dive into. Independent bookstores are rare and special spaces, and I feel incredibly grateful to now help carry this one forward.
Saltwater Bookstore has always been a place for stories, and I’m excited to continue that tradition with all of you. Stop in, say hello, and tell me what you’re reading. There’s always a new story waiting to be discovered on the shelves.
